Lotte World Adventure

Seoul, South Korea

Lotte World, located in Seoul, South Korea, is a major recreational complex consisting of an indoor and outdoor amusement park, a man-made island and lake, shopping malls, museums, a hotel, sports facilities, and movie theaters. Lotte World Adventure, an area within Lotte World, is home to the world's largest indoor amusement park and hosts more than 8 million visitors each year at its 128,246 sq m (3,701,595 sq ft) recreation complex. The arrangement of the immense space requires specific design provisions to keep a unified appearance throughout the park and the rest of Lotte World.

Philips Color Kinetics previously provided LED lighting fixtures for various facilities within Lotte World, including the Lotte Department Store, the Lotte Supertower parking facility, the Lotte Hotel, and various retail stores located within its confines. Throughout 2012 and 2013, three sites located within Lotte World Adventure, the Bazaar Zone, the ticket booth, and the Lotte World main gate were renovated. The Lotte World Design team again chose Philips Color Kinetics LED lighting fixtures to provide decorative lighting, to take advantage of the fixtures' energy efficiency and wide range of color display options.

The main gate to Lotte World Adventure leaves a lasting first impression with visitors as they walk under the exciting overhead installation that plays customized light shows using iColor Flex LMX. The ticket booth was lit with iColor Cove MX Powercore fixtures, recessed above and below the counter. The dynamic lighting sets a fun and inviting mood as customers enter the space. Throughout the Bazaar Zone, wide beam versions of iColor Cove MX Powercore encircle the ceiling to create an atmosphere that mimics the appearance of sunlight against the sky-painted ceiling.

"Philips Color Kinetics presents outstanding fixture colors compared to other companies, but above all, they carry the excellence of delivering the original design plan containing various concepts pursued by Lotte World Adventure," said Okhee Joo of the design team for Lotte World Adventure. "Philips Color Kinetics has been used for three sites in Lotte World because they are able to make changes easily and quickly for various presentation scenes through a controller, which is important considering the characteristics of an amusement park."
